the Artists
Fragments of Summer brings together eight contemporary photographers whose individual practices explore landscape, memory, human presence and the emotional resonance of place. While each artist maintains a distinctive visual language, their works enter into dialogue throughout the exhibition, creating a collective narrative that extends beyond individual authorship.
Rather than presenting separate portfolios, the exhibition invites viewers to discover how different perspectives converge around shared themes of light, connection, reflection and remembrance.
Rania Christou
Greece
Born and based in Volos, Greece, Rania Christou is a science educator whose longstanding passion for the arts found a renewed focus in photography following her retirement from secondary education. Her practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for everyday life, with a particular interest in street and travel photography. Guided by the human presence within the landscape, she seeks to capture fleeting moments that reveal quiet stories, emotional connections and a sense of place.
Rania is a member of the Hellenic Photographic Society (EFE) and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, including Cyprus, Prague, Beijing, Madrid and New York. Her photographs have received awards and commendations in both Panhellenic and international photography competitions.

Gary Duehr
USA
Based in Somerville, Massachusetts, Gary Duehr is an American photographer whose work explores the relationship between memory, perception and the layered experience of place. Through reflections, transparency and shifting perspectives, his photographs invite viewers to question the boundaries between reality and imagination, revealing landscapes that exist as much in memory as in the visible world.
Recognised as a Best Emerging Artist in New England by the International Association of Art Critics, Gary has received a Photography Artist Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, as well as grants from the LEF Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. His work has been exhibited internationally in museums and galleries, including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MoMA PS1, New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana, and exhibitions in Tokyo, Venice, Stockholm, London and Barcelona.

Anastasia Grigoriadou
Greece
Based in Katerini, Greece, Anastasia Grigoriadou is a psychologist whose photographic practice reflects a deep sensitivity to memory, atmosphere and human emotion. Holding a degree in Psychology and drawing on professional experience in schools and diagnostic centres, she brings an attentive and contemplative perspective to her visual storytelling, exploring the subtle relationship between place, perception and inner experience.
Working across both personal and documentary photography, Anastasia is drawn to moments where light, texture and landscape evoke emotional resonance beyond their immediate appearance. Her images invite quiet reflection, transforming fleeting scenes into lasting impressions that blur the boundaries between solitude and connection, observation and remembrance. Alongside her professional career, she embraces photography as a space for creative expression and personal exploration, while being fluent in Greek, English, Italian and Spanish.

Florentia Kanaki
Greece
Based in Heraklion, Crete, Florentia Kanaki is a Greek photographer and graduate of the Hellenic Photographic Society. Her work has been selected for exhibitions in Greece and internationally, including presentations in Athens, Crete, Cyprus and Prague, while her photographs have also appeared in publications and magazines.
Alongside her exhibition practice, Florentia runs her own photography studio, which serves not only as a professional workspace but also as a place for personal creative exploration. Through her photography, she is drawn to moments where light, atmosphere and quiet beauty reveal the poetic qualities of everyday life, inviting viewers to pause, observe and experience the familiar with renewed sensitivity.

Alexandra Kontodima
Greece
Based in Arta, Greece, Alexandra Kontodima is a Greek photographer whose lifelong relationship with photography began in childhood through a fascination with landscapes and flowers. What started as an instinctive way of observing the world gradually evolved through study, seminars and creative projects, shaping both her artistic vision and photographic practice.
For Alexandra, photography preserves moments suspended in time, carrying memories and emotions beyond the instant they were captured. Guided by a continual desire to explore new perspectives and visual narratives, she transforms ordinary scenes into quiet, evocative images. Her work has received awards in photography competitions, reflecting her ongoing commitment to artistic growth, creative exploration and the expressive potential of the photographic image.

Nikolas Kountouris
Greece
Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, Nikolas Kountouris is a photographer and digital creator whose practice explores the expressive potential of minimalism, street photography and conceptual image-making. Driven by a search for forms, compositions and visual relationships, his work encourages viewers to reinterpret familiar subjects through abstraction and carefully constructed perspectives.
Alongside his street photography, Nikolas develops studio-based photographic projects using everyday materials—including food ingredients and children’s toys—to create imaginative visual compositions and artistic installations. Moving fluidly between observation and construction, his practice transforms ordinary objects and moments into thought-provoking images that challenge perception and stimulate the imagination.

Dimitris Stamatis
Greece
Based in Athens, Greece, Dimitris Stamatis is a fine-art underwater photographer whose work explores the relationship between the human body, water and light. Through open-sea sessions, pool studies and expressive portraiture, he creates evocative images that capture moments of freedom, vulnerability and quiet emotional presence beneath the surface.
Specialising in underwater portraiture, dance and modelling photography, Dimitris has developed a distinctive visual language through the ongoing Nereids Photo Project, an exploration of the feminine presence within aquatic environments. His photographs reveal water not simply as a setting, but as a transformative space where movement, emotion and light exist in harmonious balance. Guided by a search for simplicity, calm and quiet beauty, his practice invites viewers to experience immersion as both a physical and emotional journey.

Franziska Stier
Switzerland
Based in Basel, Switzerland, Franziska Stier (b. 1984, former East Germany) is a photographer whose practice is shaped by a longstanding commitment to social and environmental justice. After years documenting protests and political movements, she expanded her artistic focus to underwater photography, discovering in the marine environment a new space for observation, visual storytelling and exploration.
Through encounters with sharks, turtles, dolphins and fragile reef ecosystems, Franziska creates images that encourage curiosity, empathy and a deeper appreciation of the natural world. Combining documentary observation with a refined aesthetic sensibility, her photographs reveal both the beauty and the vulnerability of marine life, inviting viewers to look beyond appearances and recognise the interconnectedness of the underwater world. Ultimately, her work reflects a desire to foster a more thoughtful relationship between people and the oceans that sustain life on our planet.
